About Moira
What is Moira?
Moira is a self knowledge platform that reads your life through seven ancient systems: Western astrology, Vedic astrology, Human Design, Gene Keys, numerology, Chinese zodiac, and Sabian Symbols. We combine all seven into one personalized reading, written in a warm, human voice, and then we tell you what to do with what you learn. That last part, the practical application, is what no other platform offers.
What does the name Moira mean?
Moira comes from ancient Greek. It means "portion," "share," or "allotment." The Moirai were three sisters who personified this concept. They were called the Fates, but that translation has always been too small. Your moira is not a fixed destiny. It is your portion, the thread you were given. The weaving is yours. You can read the full story on our Story page.
Why seven systems? Is not one enough?
No single system can read the whole thread. Each one sees a different part of you. Western astrology shows your architecture. Vedic astrology shows your karmic blueprint. Human Design shows your operating system. Gene Keys show your spectrum, from wound to gift to transcendence. Numerology shows your rhythm. Chinese zodiac shows your animal wisdom. Sabian Symbols show your soul images. Other apps give you one and call it a day. We give you all seven, woven into one reading. That is the Moira difference.
How is Moira different from Co-Star, CHANI, or The Pattern?
Co-Star gives you one liners. The Pattern gives you psychological insights without showing you the actual chart. CHANI gives you deep astrology from one system. TimePassages gives you accurate calculations but no interpretation. Genetic Matrix gives you Human Design charts but no readings. Moira is the only platform that combines all seven systems into one warm, personalized reading and tells you what to do with it. We are the only platform where the reading ends with "So what do I do?" and then answers it.
Is Moira AI generated?
Yes. Moira readings are generated by artificial intelligence based on real astronomical calculations from the Swiss Ephemeris. The planetary positions are exact, calculated to the minute. The text of your reading is written by an AI system trained to produce readings in the Moira voice, which is warm, specific, and human. The AI has strict guardrails to ensure it never sounds robotic, never gives harmful advice, and never predicts the future. We are transparent about this because we believe you deserve to know how your reading was made.
About the Readings
What is a natal reading?
Your natal reading is your initial reading, generated when you first enter your birth data. It covers all seven systems and tells you who you are at the deepest level. Think of it as your architecture. It is the foundation for everything that follows. The natal reading is free.
What is a monthly reading?
Your monthly reading is generated each month based on current transits, your Personal Month number, your activated Gene Keys, and what the sky is doing right now. It tells you what is happening this month, why, and what to do about it. The monthly reading is the core of the Moira subscription.
How accurate are the calculations?
Very accurate. We use the Swiss Ephemeris, which is the industry standard for astronomical calculations. It is the same database used by NASA, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and professional astrologers worldwide. The planetary positions are not approximations. They are exact, calculated to the minute. Every calculation has been verified against external sources, and every system has a test suite that checks the math before anything reaches you.
Do I need to know my exact birth time?
The more accurate your birth time, the more precise your reading. If you can, check your birth certificate. If you do not know your exact time, enter your best guess. Your Sun sign, Chinese zodiac, numerology, and Sabian Symbols will still be accurate. Your Ascendant, house positions, and Human Design may shift if your time is off by more than a few minutes, but the core of your reading will be correct.
What if I was born in a different country or timezone?
Moira handles timezones automatically based on your birth location. When you enter your birth city, state, and country, we convert your local birth time to Universal Time (UTC) to calculate the exact planetary positions. You do not need to do any timezone math yourself. Just enter the time on your birth certificate.
Does Moira predict the future?
No. Moira does not predict the future. We describe patterns and energies, not outcomes. We say "this transit supports new connections," not "you will meet someone on Tuesday." The difference matters. We are reading the thread, not writing the story. The weaving is yours.
Is the reading the same every time?
Your natal reading is the same unless your birth data changes. Your monthly reading is different every month because the transits change, your Personal Month changes, and the activated Gene Keys change. The sky is always moving. Your thread is always moving. We are always reading it.
About the Seven Systems
What is Western astrology?
Western astrology is the system that maps the position of the planets at the moment you were born to interpret your personality, tendencies, and life themes. Your natal chart is a snapshot of the sky at your first breath. It shows your Sun (identity), Moon (emotional needs), Mercury (mind), Venus (love), Mars (drive), and every other planet that was visible.
What is Human Design?
Human Design is a system that maps your energetic type and strategy. It tells you how your aura interacts with the world, how you are wired to make decisions, and where your intuition lives in your body. Your Type (Generator, Projector, Manifestor, etc.) tells you how to meet life with less resistance. Your Authority tells you how to make decisions. Your Profile tells you your role in life.
What is Vedic astrology?
Vedic astrology (also called Jyotish) is the ancient Indian system of astrology, practiced for over 5,000 years. It uses the sidereal zodiac, which maps the planets to their actual current positions in the sky rather than the seasonal positions used in Western astrology. Vedic astrology reveals your karmic patterns, your life purpose (dharma), and the timing of major life events through the dasha system. Where Western astrology shows your architecture, Vedic astrology shows the soul journey that architecture was built for.
What are Gene Keys?
Gene Keys is a system created by Richard Rudd that maps the same 64 gates as Human Design to three levels of expression: the Shadow (the wound or lowest expression), the Gift (the talent or healthy expression), and the Siddhi (the transcendence or highest expression). Gene Keys tells you where your deepest wounds are and what they are teaching you, and what becomes possible when you do that work.
What is numerology?
Numerology is the study of the mathematical vibrations of numbers. Your birth date carries specific numbers that describe the rhythm and themes of your life. Your Life Path Number describes the theme of your entire life. Your Personal Year describes what year you are in (1 through 9, in a repeating cycle). Your Personal Month and Personal Day describe the energy of this month and today.
What is the Chinese zodiac?
The Chinese zodiac is a system that has been used for over 4,000 years. It assigns one of 12 animals (Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Pig) and one of 5 elements (Metal, Water, Wood, Fire, Earth) to each year. Your animal and element describe your temperament, strengths, and challenges. The system also provides yearly forecasts based on how your animal sign interacts with the current year.
What are Sabian Symbols?
Sabian Symbols are 360 visual images, one for every degree of the zodiac. They were channeled by clairvoyant Elsie Wheeler in 1925 and have been used by astrologers for a century. Each symbol is a visual metaphor that describes a specific life theme. Where astrology says "your Sun is in Pisces," the Sabian Symbol says "your Sun is in the degree of the cross illuminated by a shaft of light on rocks surrounded by sea and mist." That image tells a story the sign name alone cannot.
