The Story of the Search

I grew up on a farm in Iowa, reading my Pisces horoscope in the newspaper and feeling like it was written for me. That was the beginning. It just took 30 more years to get to Moira.

How It Started

I grew up on a farm in Iowa. I wanted to live in a big city and work in advertising since I was in the eighth grade. I always loved art and anything creative. And at a young age, I discovered that my horoscope was Pisces and I immediately related to every horoscope I read. I would search them out in magazines and newspapers whenever I could. Growing up in the eighties, there was not much available on horoscopes beyond what you read in a newspaper. But I read every one I could find.

As I grew older, I was always a dreamer, pushing myself toward my next adventure and the life I wanted to create for myself. I did not get married until my late thirties. I had my beautiful children at 41 and 42. I was just starting my first advertising agency with a partner, and we were very successful. I was crazy busy.

Fast forward to 2017, when I unexpectedly found myself opening my own agency. I named it after the farm. I built it for 25 years, working with brands like Coca-Cola, Georgia-Pacific, Beam Global Wine and Spirits, Kraft Foods, Del Monte, and Dole. I held executive level positions at top agencies from New York City to San Francisco. I was a pioneer in shopper marketing. I led retail marketing seminars in Asia, London, and across the US. I was an advocate for young women in business, speaking at events and providing marketing support to women focused nonprofits. I had the career I had dreamed of since the eighth grade.

How It Changed

As my kids started to grow up and I was still overwhelmed with work and running a family, I started to get burnout on every aspect of my life. I did not know why, because I had the life I had always dreamed of. I was married. I had two beautiful children. I was living in an amazing community in Marin County, California. I was running my own successful advertising agency. I had so many wonderful true friendships and parents and sisters who supported me every step of the way. Who could want for more?

But at times I felt like I was not listening to my true self. And there had to be a secret to the meaning of life. I was searching for it. I just did not know where to look.

The Search

For my fiftieth birthday, I went to Reiki. That opened a door. I discovered meditation and Joe Dispenza. I got into frequency work and wearable apps. I went to my Reiki specialist and a medium every week. I had sessions with famous mediums and psychics around the world. I did my Gene Keys. I religiously followed my horoscope through weekly updates. I had my numerology done and my family constellations read.

You name it, I tried it all. And I would say simply that I got drunk on spirituality. I was devouring every system, every reading, every tool I could find. I had printouts of my readings. I had screenshots on my cell phone. I had folders and bookmarks and notes.

But nothing pulled it together for me into something useful. I had all the data. I had all the insights. I had all the systems telling me who I was. But I did not have a practical guide for what to do with any of it in my actual life. I was searching for a master sage to bring it all together. And I could not find one.

The Vision

That is when I had the vision for what Moira could become. How could I bring everything that worked for me together in a system to help others on their life path?

I have always felt my purpose in life is to help others find their light. Moira is one of the ways I want to help others. Not by giving them more data. Not by giving them another chart to look at and not know what to do with. By pulling it all together. By weaving seven systems into one reading. By telling them what to do with it. By being the master sage I was searching for and could not find.

I built Moira because I needed it. I built it because I spent years looking for it and it did not exist. I built it because I believe that knowing yourself is the most important work you can do, and that the tools for knowing yourself should be as beautiful, as warm, and as practical as the life you are trying to live.

What I Believe

I believe that self knowledge is not a luxury. It is the foundation of a life well lived. When you know yourself, truly know yourself, you stop fighting your nature. You stop apologizing for your needs. You stop performing a life that is not yours. You begin to weave the life that is.

I believe that the mystical and the practical are not opposites. They are two ends of the same thread. The mystical tells you who you are. The practical tells you what to do about it. Moira does both.

I believe that one system is not enough. You are not one thing. You are a whole person with an architecture, an operating system, a spectrum of expression, a rhythm, an animal nature, and a soul image. One system sees one part of you. Seven systems see the whole.

And I believe that a reading should sound like a person, not a platform. It should sound like your best friend, not a brand. It should sound like someone who knows you and cares about you and wants you to live well. That is the voice I wanted from every reading I ever got, and that is the voice I built into Moira.

Where It Goes From Here

Moira is just beginning. I have a vision for what it can become, but it will grow the way every living thing grows: by responding to what it encounters. By listening to the people who use it. By weaving what we learn into what we build.
